2009

December 12th, 2009

On December 7, 2009, a day which will live in infamy, Love and War was suddenly, and deliberately, reviewed on JD’s Adventure Game Blog…

Actually, it was December 1, but never mind about that. Act I was very kindly reviewed by JD, from an adventure game perspective. Check it out!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrated it! I hope the food was good, and the Black Friday sales not too traumatic. Speaking of trauma, I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve barely had time to even open RPG Maker (which, as I’m sure you can imagine, kind of makes it hard to work on an RPG). Still, whenever I have a spare moment, I often find myself jotting down random bits and pieces of LAW stuff on any paper I have handy. Hopefully December will see things ease up, and allow me to get back to work.

“Darkness falls across the land…
The midnight hour is close at hand…
Creatures crawl in search of blood…
To terrorize y’awl’s neighborhood!”

Happy Halloween!

Been under the weather lately, and ironically, that was the only block of free time I had to work on the side project. Oh well, c’est la vie… One thing I have noticed, however, is that I’m working on it using a somewhat different process then Act I. For Act I, I specifically worked in “chronological” order—meaning that as the story advanced, I’d prepare the next cutscene, or battle, or puzzle, and so on, all in order until I reached the final cutscene at the end. This time, I’ve been working more exclusively on the cutscenes first, wanting to get them done before I tinker with battles and the like. It’s noticably different, at least for me, and I’m not sure which way I like better. Only time will tell!

Work continues on the side project, which is slowly but surely starting to take shape. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get a decent amount of work done on the first chapter, before my free time dries up in early September. Here’s to hoping!

February 14th, 2009

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I hope everyone enjoys a maximum of Love, and a minimum of War this February 14. A new piece of fan art has been added to Fan Contributions: Check it out! I’d also like to announce something new called “Ask the Admiral”! Either e-mail or post any questions you might have about Love and War and every now and then I’ll pick a few and answer them. You can read further details, as well as the first batch of questions and answers in the thread itself. Hope to hear from you!

It’s the first news update of the New Year! I hope everyone is enjoying 2009 so far. And what better way to ring in the new year then with a new piece of art added to Fan Contributions? It’s not exactly fan art, but I think it’s close enough. Many thanks to Christi-chan, who provided my secret-Santa gift!
