’Tis the season to be jolly! 2012 finally saw the release of the Act I revamp, and it seems to have been received well, so far. The LAW Facebook page has also taken off quite a bit, proving to be a nice place for me to post little updates, pieces of art, and further interact with the fans. And of course 2012 also held my first experiment with manga, with Scattered Pictures! Really, it feels like a lot of neat stuff was accomplished this year. Here’s to hoping that this continues into 2013 and beyond! Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays everyone!

“Vote for your Favorite II” has come to a close. And we have a tie—Henrik, and General Stokel, each with four points! Both will be immortalized in a piece of artwork by Shmeckie. Look forward to seeing it soon!

The second “Vote for your Favorite” contest has begun! As in the last one, all you have to do is vote for whichever character in Act I of Love and War was your favorite, and that character will be immortalized in a new piece of artwork (drawn by Shmeckie, who did the last pic). It can be any character, from the lowliest of NPCs to the most major of main characters. The character who gets the most votes by the end of the month (October 31st, 2012) wins! Submit your votes by either e-mailing me, posting a response on our forum or on our Facebook page.
This time, I’m adding a bit of a twist as an experiment, however. If you just list the name of the character, you’ll get a single vote. If you add in an explanation as to why you think this character should win however, your vote counts for double! (Please put in at least a little bit of thought into it; “just ’cuz” isn’t going to cut it :P) Let’s see how this ends up rocking the vote!

It feels like it’s time to announce this: the revamped version of Act I will be released in August. I guess that’s more of a release “range” then an exact date? But it will allow me a certain flexibility, hopefully getting some last minute beta testing done and what not.
Now, some may recall that I’ve mentioned waiting for the remaining material (chiefly artwork and voice acting) to be sent my way. Does that mean I’ve gotten everything? Well, sorry to say, but no, I haven’t. Some crucial progress was made in the last couple of weeks (which in part is why I decided to go for August), but otherwise those percentages haven’t budged. That may well mean that we’ll have to release without everything in place. I’m really sorry about this… I am a perfectionist, and have always wanted to shoot for the “it’s done when it’s done” ideal. Honestly though, I feel that I’ve reached the point where waiting another month or three more really has no promise of paying off in any significant way. Perhaps the remaining stuff could be released in a patch later on, but that would be totally out of my hands, and up to fate.
So, to sum up: barring any unfortunate events, a release in August. It will have new artwork, though perhaps not as much as I hoped for. It will have voice acting, though again, perhaps not as much as I had planned for. And it will be playable, a definite improvement over the original (hopefully!), and a fun experience. :)
